Placecast validation
The Placecast validation suite documents how Placecast visit profiles reproduce known ground-truth visit counts across multiple place categories. Methodology covers panel construction, cohort selection, and the validation framework that each per-vintage release reuses.
This page is wayfinding for bureau, agency, and methodology-lead readers. The version summaries and the named pilot studies below are the canonical reference; this Overview points to each one with a sentence on what it covers so you can pick the right one without reading the whole suite.
Version summaries
- Placecast v2.2 Summary — current published validation summary. Covers methodology refresh, per-category accuracy bands, and the cohort framework used in the v2.2 release.
Note: Placecast v2.1 Summary is filed in
standard-data/documentation but currently hidden upstream
(the index.md carries hidden: true); it will surface here
once the upstream content is unhidden.
Pilot studies
- Airport Enplanements — pilot study validating Placecast against published BTS airport enplanement counts. Cohort, methodology, and per-airport deltas.
